Mock Firm competition: Metous -David Lee and Anthony Stahl
David Lee and Anthony Stahl, Cal Poly architecture students and co-founders of Metous Studio, were awarded First Place in the 2010 Mock Firms International Skyscraper Challenge for their project entitled Barrio de los Paracaidistas. Competing against over 30 entries from the United States, Sweden, Spain, Switzerland and Canada, David and Anthony won the overall top award of “2010 Mock Firms Winner” as well as “Top American Firm,” “Top Firm Structure,” “Top Building Project,” “Top Marketing Firm” and were runners-up in the “Top Conceptual Platform” category.
Their unique and revolutionary design translated the traditional Mexican street into an elevated and open-air, high-rise form that redefines the urban condition in Mexico City. As the partners of the “mock firm,” they managed schedules, ideas and solutions making their firm a true collaboration of different perspectives. The presentation, to include video, models and computer renderings, was produced by David and Anthony and an expanded Metous Studio that incorporated a dozen students and faculty advisor Marc J. Neveu. The design will be published in Chicago Architecture Today News and several other notable architecture websites.
As founding partners of Metous Studio, David and Anthony believe strongly in the power and responsibility that architecture has to change our way of thinking and ultimately create a better life. Metous Studio plans to continue entering competitions and ultimately design built work.
