Profile

Emily White is an architect working with perceptions of space, invisible atmospheric phenomena, and thin materials ranging from inflatables to sheet metal. She uses techniques borrowed from manufacturing and construction to produce drawings, large-scale installations and building. Emily’s work has been exhibited at the J. Paul Getty Museum, the Museum of Contemporary Art, Los Angeles, The Pasadena Museum of California Art and Materials & Applications. She has lectured and published on topics ranging from manufactured islands to the history of code in fibrous architecture.


Emily holds a Master of Architecture from the Southern California Institute of Architecture (SCI-Arc) and a Bachelor of Arts from Barnard College, Columbia University. She has taught design studios at the University of Southern California, Woodbury University, the University of California at Berkeley and SCI-Arc. She joined the faculty of Cal Poly San Luis Obispo in 2015.
