Overview

The SOM Co-op+Design Program is held at the SOM offices in San Francisco, California. The design project and co-op experience will focus on the design of a High Rise Tower and the related interdisciplinary building system integration and its influence on form making. The images are from a proposed high rise tower designed by SOM for Sofitel Hotels. The studio is tentatively scheduled to be held Monday and Friday from 8 to 5 and the paid co-op is scheduled Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday from 8 to 5.

Selection Process

Interested students will be required to apply by submitting a portfolio, resume and one page letter indicating why they want to participate in the SOM Co-op+Design Program. SOM will select 2 students to participate in the program.

Registration & Process

After being selected to participate in this program, and have registered, email Michael Fukutome at SOM and do the following.

Download, print, fill out, sign and bring the following forms to the Architecture Department before you leave campus to begin the SOM Program: SOM Participation Form (.pdf), SOM Risk Form (pdf), SOM Medical Form (.pdf).

Coursework

Arch 451-94 (5 units): Architectural Design 4.1
Arch 485-94 (8 units): Cooperative Education Experience

Students will register for courses through the Cal Poly University registration system.
