Scanning Guidelines

VIDAR Scanner SD4430 Specifications

The scanner accepts documents up to 42″(1066mm) wide

The scanner has an optical resolution of 1200 dpi.

The scanner accepts media up to 0.08in (2 mm) thick.

The scanner accepts the following paper and media:

  • velum
  • mylar
  • watercolor paper
  • index paper
  • bristol board

The scanner will NOT accept:

  • tracing paper
  • foam core board
  • cardboard
  • heavy chipboard

Preparation

The scanner is located in the Neel Resource Center (NRC), Building 05, room 101.

There is no fee for using the large format scanner!!

Documents must meet the above specifications.

To prepare a document before scanning:

  1. Remove any staples, tape or glue residue
  2. Unfold or unroll the sheet and flatten it and any folds or paper edges
  3. Make sure the drawing or document is dry
    • There cannot be any graphite particle, wet ink or wet paint on a drawing!
    • A fixative spray must be used to adhere any charcoal, graphite particles to the paper surface.
