Design Challenge: The aim of the contest is to create a link between the world of design and production, and stimulate innovative solutions that start from the knowledge and and from the eventual customization of materials used for the project. The design theme is Palazzo Ca' Trom, home of the undergraduate degree programme in planning and urban design at Universita Iuav Di Venezia.

Architect's Newspaper Best of Design Awards 2017

Awards: Winners and honorable mentions will be published in a special Design Annual created for Best Of Design. It will be mailed out in December 2017 and distributed at industry events and conferences throughout 2018. Winning projects will also be featured on our website, where they will reach national and international audiences, and will be promoted via social media. Winners will also receive a limited edition print from Archigram produced especially for A|N. 
Design Challenge: Entrants are invited to submit completed works in 42 categories that reflect A|N’s editorial coverage, as well as the interests and obsessions of our readers. This year, we have two landscape categories, for public and private designs. The BoD jury will judge entries based on several criteria: strength of the presentation, evidence of innovation, creative use of new technology, sustainability, and, most importantly, good design.

Design Challenge: The objective is to design a modern mud type to be built as a unit of an artisanal village, a residential vocational training center for unemployed rural youths of ages 16 to 25 years to undergo a 2-year skills development training in the vocational arts and design. We want the school plan to emphasize sustainable architecture and cost efficient construction. The challenge is to design one of the following types for the school: a classroom type, cafeteria type, office building type, dormitory type, group toilet type, cafeteria type, dwelling type for the local teachers, and guest house type for our international visiting staff. Contestants are to design the school type for construction by maximum use of earth and local labor.

Awards: Winning students will be offered a paid summer internship at an architecture firm doing leading work in sustainable design. Students will specify their top choices from participating firms and internships will be assigned by lottery. An award of $2,000 will be distributed to each winning project. 
Design Challenge: The program challenges students, working individually or in teams, to submit projects that use a thoroughly integrated approach to architecture, natural systems, and technology to provide architectural solutions that protect and enhance the environment. The competition will recognize ten exceptional studio projects that seamlessly integrate adaptive, resilient, and strategies for moving towards carbon-neutral operation within their broader design concepts.
