As humans, we spend so much of our lives around built environments. Everything around us has an effect on our moods, behaviors, and cognitive abilities, and this is no less true for buildings. In my design work, I try to find the balance between sustainable passive principles and psychological effects usable for the intended purpose of the design. Additionally, I try to take into consideration economic realities in the world and design something that follows code. If I had to pick a word that described my design principle during my four years at Cal Poly is "Practicality". It has a time and a place and I hope moving forward I can blur the lines between practicality and exploration of blurred lines.
